Can't Trust The Weight Scale!

So many people after watching hit shows like "The Biggest Loser" or "Celebrity Boot Camp", the numbers on the scale have somehow become the clear cut and most dependable source we now use to determine if a person is healthy or actually losing weight. Our bodies our made up of many different kinds of tissues. like, muscles, bones, fat, and specialized tissues in organs. Body fat composition is more important because it takes into account the amount of our body weight that is composed if just fat. This is the most important number we should pay attention to. You may see the same number on the weight scale, but notice you are losing inches on your waistline noticeably.
The scale does not tell you much once you think about it.Yes! the scale tells you your weight but does it tell you how much of your weight is fat or muscle. Or even how about how much of that is water , bones, organs, etc. In fact weight changes can fluctuate between 5-10 lbs from morning to night. When you lose body fat, you are making permanent changes. When you lose weight it could be a result of losing water or even muscle. The scale is not a reliable source if you want to get results and it does not reflect your progress. If an individual is doing cardio and resistance training, they can slim down, lean up, build muscle and lose weight at the same time, but the scale in this case can still show the same weight.

Measuring your Success:
Set performance goals(push-up test,sit-up test, step-up test, etc.)
Take measurements(Waste size)
Go by whether or not your clothes fits, because if they are fitting loosely, then you know your are on the right track
Take before and after pictures
How do you feel when you wake up in the morning and through out the day?Do you have more energy?
