Give it your ALL

You may have heard this before, “You reap what you sowe”. This holds true to everything in life and exercise is no exception. You get in what you put out. If you give a minimum effort, then DO NOT expect much of a return. We as humans never really realize our potential until our bodies are pushed to the limits. I’ve heard story of a 5’8 criminal running from the cops and leaping over 11ft walls and cops standing there staring in amazement. There was another story of a 16 year old kid lifting a car off of his uncle after it had collapsed on him during a routine oil change. Its amazing the potential we have given the right situation or motive.
What would it look like if you were to give your all, a 110% in a workout. An incredible thing happens, “YOU HAVE NOTHING LEFT TO GIVE”, therefore you can have no regrets about the workout, yet a terrible thing happens when you give 75% effort, you are left with 25% to haunt you with the question “What if..i gave it my all?” I’m pretty sure you can add a list of responses to that.(I.E.. coulda lost more weight, coulda saw results.
To keep it simple don’t short change yourself! Give it all you’ve got and then sum! That is an accomplishment in itself!

My plans have changed

So I had a BIG decision I needed to make this past spring semester. After 5 years of being in college, i could no longer ignore the question, "What are you going to do martin after you graduate?" Last year in the summer I attended the Every Nation School Of Ministry in Nashville,Tennessee to receive training to be a Campus Minister at The University of Texas. As I got closer to graduation I started to ask myself the question is this what Martin wants to do, or is this what everyone around me wants me to do. So I turned to God and asked what do you want me to do. Everyone around me seems to be planning my own future for me, and I choose to go with it so as not to disappoint people.

With many nights of prayer I came to this conclusion that I was people pleasing, that I was driven to be a campus minister through guilt and some imaginary pressure I created in my own mind. I'm the one that has to live with the decisions I make in life, and no one can ever live my life for me. If someone was to ever be a campus minister through guilt or pressure, they would never last that long. For the longest I always lived in a way that if the title had minister in it, then it was doing God's work, but that is so far from the truth. And this is the truth as Colossians 3:23
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, 24since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving."
So my life is a ministry, and whatever I decided to do I will do it unto the Lord. looking at my life, I see alot of the discipline and training I received came from a military father and football. This training has been useful in ministering to others in and encouraging them and helping them in their walk with God. I love this quote by Dr. Blackaby:

We r not called to a task, a mission, a job or a ministry. We r called to a relationship with our heavenly Father. We become obedient to him in our activities, but we r called to relationship. Throughout life your call never changes, but your task or ministry focus may change many times.

So now if you were to ask Martin whats his plans are for the future i would say this. To become C.S.C.S. Certified Personal trainer, Start m masters program in Exercise Science in the Fall 2011, be running a my own personal training business averaging 4+ clients a day for 5 days straight, actually take a spring break vacation for the first time in my life, and eventually open up my own gym, to train the general population and athletes, and instill a sense of fitness as a way of life in everyone. This is my passion, in doing so I want to be able to bring the gospel through this avenue and reach students, adult population, the world. But of course as the word says in Proverbs 16:9 :
In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.
